Modern suburbia has reframed settling into a home as a descent into uniformity: a site of confinement, energy depletion and, ultimately, stagnation. Instead of offering support to recharge from the outside world, contemporary residential design often borrows from stylistic trends, replicating them at a discount with lower-quality materials under the guise of efficiency. This misuse of materials, and the widespread standardization of low-quality housing, has damaged our cultural understanding of what a home should provide. As a result, homemaking and daily life within the home are increasingly seen as undesirable or incompatible with fulfillment.​

My work argues for a return to honoring real materials that carry both a history and the weight of care for the future. By reshaping the familiar form of a classic double-decker structure, expanding architectural elements like larger windows for Vitamin-D access, introducing work spaces alongside domestic counterparts, and spaces more inviting for gathering, my design proposes a home intended to motivate vitality: a place where partnership, creativity, and family life can be nurtured, sustained, and reimagined together.

The renderings reveal the underlying structure, while the website offers a tool that allows clients to experiment with different materials and refine the interior to their own design eye. They can superimpose chosen furnishing into the rendering, with individually envisioned textures, materials, spatial intentions, and atmospheres. This imagination process is not only fun, it also promotes a sense of agency, encouraging clients to feel more free about reshaping their surroundings according to their needs. Combining the design with the web tool shows us that a home is ours to control, and it’s more than just a container.
